Diabetes Panel
This all-in-one Diabetes Panel includes three tests designed to provide information required for diagnosing or monitoring diabetes.
- Test Preparation:
- Fasting is required (i.e. no eating or drinking anything besides water for 8 hours prior to testing)
- Testing Method:
- Blood draw and urine sample
This all-in-one Diabetes Panel includes three tests designed to provide information required for diagnosing or monitoring diabetes. By measuring blood sugar (glucose) levels, electrolyte and fluid balance, kidney function, liver function and other processes, this panel can give you an idea of your overall health. It can also be useful in diagnosing diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease, hypertension, and other conditions.
This Diabetes Panel tests for the following:
How Our Diabetes Panel Works
For our diabetes panel, simply place your order online and stop by one of our 4,000+ nationwide testing facilities at your convenience (no appointment required) after fasting for at least 8 hours. A member of the center’s staff will collect a quick blood and urine sample at which point your part of the process is done. The sample collection itself takes only a few minutes each and most patients are in and out and about their day in under a half-hour. From there, your sample will be processed in a CLIA-certified laboratory and in as little as 24-72 hours, you’ll have full results regarding your glucose levels and results for the following tests: Random Microalbumin Test (to measure your albumin globulin ratio), Hemoglobin A1c Test and Comprehensive Metabolic Panel.
Common Symptoms
Individuals with diabetes report having several symptoms, commonly due to a fluctuating blood sugar level but some never experience any at all. Some common symptoms of type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes include:
- Frequent urination
- Extreme thirst and hunger—even after drinking and eating
- Fatigue
- Blurred vision
- Cuts/bruises that heal very slowly
- Weight loss (type 1 diabetes)
- Tingling, pain, or numbness in the hands/feet (type 2 diabetes)
How to Interpret Your Results
Delivered via a secure link to your email, your results will provide a complete list of substances tested (glucose, Random microalbumin, Hemoglobin A1c and Comprehensive Metabolic Panel) with your quantifiable result and reference range. The chart will include a column that declares in plain language whether each result is in the normal range or if it is “flagged”. Any flagged items can be interpreted as a potential diagnosis of diabetes. We recommend a follow-up appointment with one of our care counselors or your physician to discuss any concerns with your results.
Diabetes Panel vs Random Microalbumin Urine Test
Our Diabetes Panel is an all-in-one package that includes three tests designed to measure your glucose and blood sugar levels to assist in diagnosing or monitoring type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes. Our Random Microalbumin Urine Test is designed to measure the albumin globulin ratio in the urine in order to identify signs and risk of kidney damage. Simply put, our Diabetes Panel gives you a full picture, while the Random Microalbumin Urine Test gives you part of the picture. If you’re unsure which test makes the most sense for your unique situation, our care counselors are here to help.
