This Vitamin D 25-Dihydroxy Test, commonly referred to as a calcitriol test, measures the amount of vitamin D3 (vitamin D 25-dihydroxy or calcitriol) in the blood. It is NOT recommended to diagnose an overall vitamin D deficiency (we suggest the vitamin D 25-hydroxy or caclidio test or a panel for this). Unlike vitamin D2, vitamin D3 is absorbed through sunlight and not through food. This Vitamin D 25-Dihydroxy Test can be used to help physicians diagnose sarcoidosis, hypercalcemia/hypocalcemia, or kidney issues.
